Simon Williamson

Digital Artist and Designer

Digital Art - Gallery One

Simon primarily uses the digital medium to create his work. He started using Apple Mac computers in the late 1990s to produce his images and has built-up an in-depth knowledge of this medium. The perception of Digital Art as a true art form has gained recognition as many well known artists have embraced the digital medium from David Hockney to Gilbert and George.

Simon’s influences for his work come from musical artists such as Kate Bush and R.E.M. and perhaps not as expected from other visual painters / artists. He relates to the rich layering of sound and words used by these artists to produce their music and does the same by layering and blending images, shapes and colours to form a visual composition.

The following pages gives some insight into the processes used to create the work. The early works were all created using Adobe Photoshop before he switched to Pixelmator and Affinity Design / Photo but the processes for each software package are very similar.
