“Machine” is a close cropped image of a racing car, framed is such away to show the abstract qualities of shape, colour and light. A hand drawn / coloured feel contrasts the sharp hard metal surfaces of the machine. This was achieved by creating outlines and halftones in different colour which were then offset to give the feel of movement (a few of the key layers are shown in the image below). The final picture can be seen on the image viewer below.
As you can see from the three examples, Simon’s images are complex in their construction and combine many elements and concepts.
